For All Humankind

Description

In 1977, NASA launched the twin spacecrafts Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. An ambitious mission and a milestone in space exploration, these brothers became the first objects from earth to reach the interstellar boundary. Each carried a copy of the famous gold record which contained elegantly curated images, messages, natural sounds from our planet, and perhaps most famously, musical selections from all over the world.

All chosen for perhaps the most significant potential moment in our history. A first encounter between civilizations; a cosmic rendezvous that may not be anything at like all we imagine. We can’t control the outcome but we can put our best efforts into what we choose to share about ourselves with our musical choices.

Assuming that our potential audience is capable of listening to our music at all, I ask all of you to consider what songs you would pick for this momentous occasion. You are Carl Sagan; curating songs for the cosmos; for the future of all humankind.
