Whether it was mixtapes, my 200-disc changer, or eventually the power of CD-Rs I was always looking for a way to listen a random assortment of my favorite songs and not be chained to the tyranny of listening to whole albums front to back, warts and all. When MP3 players came out I was finally free (Spotify almost seems like too much to ask for). That said, there are maybe a few dozen albums that I like to listen to in their entirety. Among those there are but a handful that I will intentionally put on occasionally, year in and year out. To me they are perfect and when the mood strikes at no point do I wish I could hit skip or switch it up and put on something else. For this tournament I want each player to pick their nine songs from ONE album. It will take quite a record to have nine viable contenders on it. Obviously, "Greatest Hits" or compilations of any kind are prohibited. These must be proper releases. While I don't like duplicate songs from past tournaments, I think in this case I will have to waive that rule so that everyone can put their absolute favorite slab of virtual vinyl on the tourneytable. The 10th song goes to Matt for trying to sell me an idea.
